Youth Development Programme Objectives
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
To develop 20 grade 11 learners in each of the three schools to facilitate a peer education support group:
To develop and implement an on going support groups for youth in schools.
To work with boys in secondary education.
To develop creative programmes and workshops that encourage them to overcome peer pressure, crime, domestic violence and gender based violence, drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
To encourage self-responsibility and self-confidence that will encourage them to respect life and become positive leaders in their schools and communities.
These groups will enable to address issues in their schools and communities such as drug abuse, domestic violence and gender based violence, crime and HIV/AIDS.
To encourage them to have healthy relationships with their teachers, peers and families.
To encourage them to be involved in school activities such as sports, music etc.
To mentor and give them a clear understanding of themselves and how to overcome life obstacles.
To create a safe space for these boys to talk about issues that are occurring in their daily lives e.g. in school, their families and in the community.
To encourage them to form circles of support within their school and to mentor the other learners that will be new in the programme.
